Another set of pics from my phone, I came across the Bay Area Free Book Exchange in El Cerrito after a Saturday morning breakfast at Nibs. This place is an amazing concept -free books to the masses, also a great place to donate your books that you are no longer using. I picked up the Frugal Gourmet and a vintage travel book of the West Indies. I highly recommend checking this place out and dontating books if you’re able.

•February 1, 2010 • Leave a CommentAs I mentioned in a previous post I’ve been constantly de-cluttering. I came across a quote I wrote down awhile ago from the Motorcycle Diaries:
This isn’t a tale of heroic feats. It’s about two lives running parallel for awhile, with common aspirations and similar dreams.
-Ernesto Guevara de la Serna
This quote is open to interpretation-it’s particularly meaningful to me because I think it captures the nature of change and uncertainty. We cannot control the nature of situations, relationships, or unforeseen events, but we can take the present for what it is and enjoy things for what they are regardless of the potential outcome.
Cartier and America at the Legion of Honor
•February 1, 2010 • Leave a CommentToday I had the pleasure of seeing Cartier and America at the Legion of Honor. It is a beautiful collection of pieces ranging from jewelery to novelties and accessories. Some of my favorites things from the exhibit were :
- The bandeau headbands from the 1920’s.
- The mix of amethyst and turquoise in different pieces of jewelry. I think the color combination looks vibrant and unusual.
- The Cartier jewelery made for Maria Felix (two small alligators worn around the neck and a huge snake necklace).
- Sketches of different jewelery designs, one I liked a lot was a sketch made for Ingrid Bergman for Joan of Arc.
A great bonus- it was a beautiful day in San Francisco and a clear 360 panorama of the city is few and fatr between, especially in the Sunset. The exhibit is running in San Francisco until April 18, 2010.
Smart Unemployment
•January 26, 2010 • Leave a CommentThis site is a great resource. Smart Unemployment covers everything from the job search to healthcare and everything in between. The task can seem daunting and this site takes a lot of the guesswork out of figuring out what the hell to do next. On a lighter note, funemployment offers a brighter side.
